Man Made Mountain
This idea was originally nothing more than a light-hearted joke made by a Dutch journalist, but when engineers, architects and sports enthusiasts took the idea seriously it became more of a reality than intended.
Of the two of these I have already written, this is certainly the least likely to ever happen, but nonetheless, that doesn’t mean in any way, shape or form that I don’t want it to happen!
This colossal idea would stand 6,500 feet high (2,000 feet taller than Britain’s tallest mountain, Ben Nevis) and would have little different to the Crystal Island on it: swimming pools, cinemas etc. All of which would be on top of a hollow base around 6 miles in diameter.
Estimated cost comes in at *drum roll* $410 BILLION !!! I really don’t think I need to say much more about this project, but I will say this…the Alps are really not that far away.
